DESCRIPTION

A Public Art Strategy that provides a vision and framework for arts-led renewal at the University of Western Sydney’s Hawkesbury campus.

Located in a place of deep cultural and ecological richness, Western Sydney University’s Hawkesbury Campus offers a unique environment in which to embed the transformational possibilities and practices of creative revitalisation as part of a landscape of renewal and regeneration.

Delivered to support the wider Place Framework for Western Sydney University’s Hawkesbury Campus, this Public Art Strategy provides a framework for arts-led creative renewal as part of the University’s future transformation of the campus, widening its contribution to the region.

The Strategy set out key principles, themes and program areas for implementation through a staged approach, in ways that can respond to the wider transformation of campus over time.

Curatorial themes that guided the high level priorities for design and delivery included:

  • Caring with Country

  • Regenerative Arts

  • Storied Landscapes

  • Creative Communities

The framework also acted as an invitation to lead a new conversation about the role of creative and regenerative arts practices in building resilient communities and places.
