DESCRIPTION
Studio ESEM supported the Australian Museum’s Climate Solutions Centre to develop a series of Future Now Portraits, celebrating innovative work by everyday Australians creating positive futures.
The future can feel scary at times like these, when we face the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss and growing rates of inequality across society. But, as the Australian Museum’s Future Now reminds us: the future is also being made right now, by all our actions, every day. The future is still ours to shape.
To support a community engagement program by the Climate Solutions Centre at the Australian Museum, Studio ESEM led the creation of a series of video portraits celebrating the work of inspiring innovators who are leading the creation of new, future-focused solutions in their communities.
Michael Killalea from Studio ESEM also led the creation of an AI-driven artwork with Climate Solutions lead Jenny Newell, capturing a city full of future, climate friendly innovations.
The work of Studio ESEM helped to shape the narrative frame for community stories: bringing intimate portraits and perspectives into the space of the gallery. The design of these portraits aimed to help audiences consider the actions they take in their own lives.
The message? The future is ours to shape.

I think throughout history people have had ‘their moment’. Our moment is the ecological crisis.
